Summers are very pleasant with a cool breeze and moderate weather. But when it comes to winter, the temperature falls to negative and the entire place gets covered in snow.

Places To Visit
Tungnath Temple
The highest Kedar amongst the five, Tungnath is a magnificent temple with an aura soothes both eyes and soul. Situated at an elevation of 3680 m and on the Chandranath mountain, Tungnath is an important Hindu pilgrimage site that is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is where his hands are worshipped. The shrine is believed to be more than 1000 years old and is reckoned to have been discovered by Adi Shankaracharya. This holy temple is situated in the Rudraprayag District of Garhwal Region of Uttarakhand and is at a distance of about 4 km from the gorgeous meadow of Chopta. Like several high altitude temples in Uttarakhand, Tungnath can also be reached only by trekking, and the trail is quite an easy one, however, it starts to become difficult when it crosses the temple towards the Chandrashila Peak i.e, the top of the mountain. The views from here although rewarding enough to compensate for the arduous trek. And even though the temple closes in the winter season, the trekking trail remains accessible throughout the year for the adventure lovers.
Chandrashila
Located at a dizzying altitude of 4020 m, Chandrashila can be reached after 1 km of a trek from the Tungnath. This place has a stunning view of the gigantic Himalayan Peaks including, Nanda Devi, Trishul, Bandarpunch, Chaukhamba.
Deoriatal
Deoriatal is situated on the Ukhimath-Chopta road.It is a high altitude lake that can only be reached taking an uphill trek of about 3 km from the villages of Mastura and Sari. Camping here is an amazing experience.
How To Reach
By Air
The nearest airport of Chopta is situated at a distance of 221 km in the city of Dehradun where Jolly Grant Airport is located. From there you can take a bus/cab to Chopta.
By Rail
The nearest railway station is at Rishikesh and Haridwar. Out of the two, Haridwar railway station is well-connected with major cities and towns in India and is situated about 186 km from Chopta. One can get buses or cabs from Haridwar to reach the destination.
By Road
There is decent road connectivity for Chopta from Haridwar, Dehradun, Srinagar and Rishikesh. There are state-run buses and a good taxi service available from these destinations.
